Am I a chicken?
An American friend of mine was living in Voronezh and didn't speak very good Russian. He was on a train and wanted to ask if he could smoke (zdes' mozhno kurit'?). However he placed the reflexsive 'sya' at the end of the verb kurit' (to smoke). What he therefore ended up saying was:
'ya kuritsa?' (am I a chicken?).
The man who he asked looked him up and down and without even a smile simply answered 'vozmozhno' (it's possible) before walking away.
